Govt mulls policies for mobile TV

The government is planning to open terrestrial television broadcasting with an aim to allow mobile TV services in the country. Starting with the government plans to work towards a policy framework which will encompass issues such as licencing, regulatory mechanism, cross-media restrictions, foreign investment, sharing of infrastructure and others.

 

“A policy to allow the opening up of terrestrial television broadcasting so as to enable the operators to offer mobile TV services is under consideration of government," said Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Anand Sharma.
