Oxigen, Western Railways to introduce mobile ticket services for Mumbai local commuters

The new year will see more convenience being provided to the commuters traveling by local trains in Mumbai on the western route as prepaid and recharge voucher company, Oxigen is set to introduce a mobile ticket service in association with Western Railways.

 

Initially the concept will be on offer for a trial basis and will require the commuter to send an SMS to 98708 88888. Upon providing information pertaining to the source and destination of journey, the commuter will receive a confirmation message. The ticket checking staff of railways will be given handheld devices capable of encoding the confirmation messages.

 

For postpaid subscribers the charge for the service will be reflected in the bills while for prepaid subscribers it will be deducted from the balance.
