TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  09 Jan 2009

Reliance Communications (RCom) announced tie-up with UK’s Swanbaytech to introduce mobile video services for RCom’s CDMA as well as GSM subscribers.

The revenue model is based on advertisements to be beamed on the mobile phone of the subscriber and the services will be free to the subscribers. The tie-up aims to provide premium content as well along with sporting events like upcoming India Bangladesh test series.

Krishna Durbha, Head- Value Added Services, Reliance Communications said,

“Our tie-up with Swanbaymtech will be mutually beneficial. It will not only increase the viewership but also the revenue for both companies. Besides, the application offers an outstanding video quality hitherto not experienced by mobile users. Our initiative will act as a launch pad for ad-funded videos in India with more exciting things to follow.”

Warwick Hill, President of Swanbaymtech, said, “India is a high growth, exciting and dynamic mobile marketplace. We look forward to working with a respected operator like Reliance Communications to grow its Value Added Services (VAS) business.”
