Thomson Reuters claims 100,000 farmer subscriptions for mobile alert services
TT Bureau |  |  16 Jan 2009

Thomson Reuters said that 100,000 farmers have subscribed to its mobile alert services for the farming community offering information on crop prices from local markets, local weather forecasts, and relevant agricultural news and crop advisory information.

Currently covering over 50 commodities and over 250 markets in the states of Maharashtra and Punjab, the service was launched in October 2007.

“Every six weeks we have been polling 400-700 customers and we are informed that RML consistently delivers value to our customers and the direct financial returns from RML have been phenomenal,” said Amit Mehra, Managing Director, RML, Thomson Reuters.
