  Bharti Airtel’s broadcast subsidiary, Bharti Airtel Telemedia Services, today announced the availability of its internet protocol television (IPTV) services, thereby marking the entry of the leading mobile service provider in the triple-play space.
Airtel claims that its IPTV services leverage from the use of industry-best MPEG4-10 compression technology allowing it to offer to its subscribers more content at better quality of transmission. Other features include live broadcast television, network based time-shifted TV, real video-on-demand and other interactive services.
The delivery of services will involve a fibre backbone of Carrier Ethernet Network with last mile delivery on copper using ADSL2+ technology.
Airtel says its IPTV service will provide a interactive 2.0 experience Time-shit TV and movies on demand are other salient features of the services.
Currently the company is offering tow schemes to subscribers. Magic@ Home Pack at a rental of Rs 999 per month which will beam 135 channels including 256 kbps broadband connection with unlimited download option as well as landline connection. The other scheme is combo pack at Rs. 599 per month which will offer 117 channels including 256 kbps broadband speed with download limit of 2.5 GB.

Currently the launch is restricted to Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida.
The company also offers DTH services and has access to wide range of content. |
