TT Correspondent |  Mumbai |  31 Jan 2008

Standard Chartered Bank launched mobile commerce and cardless cash withdrawal facilities for its customers. The facilities leverage on advantages offered by ATM and mobile channels.

The cardless cash withdrawal or transfer involves the customer to make a request at the bank’s ATM for fund transfer to recipient’s mobile number. Subsequently the customer receives an order number and simultaneously the recipient receives a PIN through an SMS.

The recipient can then visit any of the bank’s ATM and upon entering the PIN and order number can withdraw cash.

The bank also introduced mobile commerce facility in association with PayMate through which a customer can book air tickets through the mobile phone and authenticate payment through an SMS.
