Kanpur-based Muslim Group calls for Fatwa against cell phones
TT Bureau |  |  15 Apr 2009

Kanpur-based Madrasa Jamia Ashraf-ul-Madaris issued a fatwa against the use of cell phones and in particular use of aayats as ring tones.

The group terms the use of aayats as ring tone as a sin since in most cases the user interrupts the aayats to answer the call. The group says this leads to a gunnah (sin). The group also came down heavily against the use of cell phone sin wash rooms.

Further the use of cell phones while offering prayers is also a distraction, according to the group.
