DoCoMo bids for German mobile content distribution firm, NetMobile

Japan’s NTT DoCoMo made an announcement stating that it has bid to acquire German mobile content distribution firm, Net Mobile. The company has offered euro 6.35 per share which is seen at a 54 % premium when compared to Thursday’s closing price.

"Net Mobile's technology and European presence are major plus points for DoCoMo, which is strengthening the foundation of its mobile platform business overseas," said Masatoshi Suzuki, senior EVP at DoCoMo.

Net Mobile’s services portfolio includes mobile content distribution as well as mobile payment services. It claims to have more than 500 mobile service providers and enterprises as its clients. Net Mobile has registered a 57 % revenue increase for the nine months ended with revenues of $ 97 million.    

The company had acquired a 35 % stake valued at $ 45.5 million in mobile video firm, PacketVideo.
