MTNL opts for soft launch of its mobile TV services

MTNL has announced a soft launch of its mobile TV service in the capital offering seven channels on GPRS enabled handsets. The commercial launch will be in April.

 

The streaming technology has been provided by AirChord Televenutres.

 

Subscribers will be charged a minimum of Rs.50 per month to access five free channels and rest of the channels will be charged individually.

 

According to MTNL Executive Director A K Arora, of the 15 million MTNL subscribers in Delhi, 25,000 use GPRS services as of now.

 

To watch TV on mobiles, handsets of the users would have to be GPRS-enabled and supported by Symbian operating system and phone memory should be minimum 2 MB and have real player application.
