70% of mobile web users in the age group of 18-35 years in India

A joint study by industry association, IAMAI and market research firm, IMRB says that India has around 2 million mobile web users on an active basis i.e. atleast once a month.

According to the study there are close to 127 million mobile subscribers in India who have mobile web supporting phones. However only 9.4 % or 12 million subscribers have accessed internet from their mobile devices at least once a year.

When categorized under active users, the figures come down to 1.7% or 2 million subscribers.

70% of users are in the age group of 18-35 years.

The popular applications under mobile web include chatting, accessing social networking sites and blogging followed by information search.
