 State owned telecom service provider, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), has launched its mobile TV service in India. This service is initially available on experimental basis in the Indian cities of Mumbai and Delhi.
MTNL is offering this service on the trial basis free of cost to its subscribers. Initially it is offering seven channels. This service can be initially availed by those users who have GPRS-enabled handsets until its official launch.
A.K Arora, Executive Director of MTNL, has explained that this service is on experimental basis to the first 500 customers having unlimited plan of Rs.349 per month.
This service can be used by those users who have GPRS handsets and those phones which support Symbian operating system with a minimum phone memory of 2MB and those which have the real player application.
This service by MTNL is expected to launch officially in the market by April, 2008. |
