Mumbai-based telecom research agency, Informate MI claimed that its latest Mobile Metrics Report highlight that mobile usage related to access for information and updates pertaining to cricket during the recently concluded Indian Premier League jumped 100% as compared to figures for 2009.
The official site of IPL was the most sought-after site by users followed by Cricinfo.com. In the gaming segment, Brian Lara cricket, Cricket T20 world Championship app and Freddie Flintoff were the top games during this season of IPL. Many of the Cricket games that figured last year were visible this season too.
“The Indian Premiere League (IPL) on the mobile platform has received tremendous response from Mobile users across the country. The rate at which mobile phone owners in India are consuming the IPL information on their phone is a testament to the value, simplicity and the premium content the service offers. The behavior of consumers has been positive and it is encouraging to know that users across the country from the smallest town to the biggest metro are all enjoying same experience on their mobile phones –it is fair to say that the mobile has arrived in India as one of the main sources of information and entertainment”, said Kedar Sohoni, President, Informate Mobile Intelligence.
Criczenga, Cricinfo mobicast and Broov Aroma were the most popular cricket applications for season 3 of IPL. Overall the SMS based promos garnered low response.
