Nortel Networks Corp. said it has bagged a contract to sell its high speed optical gear that transmits internet traffic up to four times faster than existing standards, to BCE Inc.’s Bell Canada.
While most networks today run at the speed of 10 Gbs, Nortel''s adaptive optical engine moves data at an astounding speed of 40 gigabits per second, claims the company.
On deployment of the equipment, it will accelerate Bell’s traffic along its corridors between Montreal-New York, Toronto-Chicago and Toronto-Montreal, without the installation of new fibre cables.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. |
