 BSNL is gearing up to take on the private operators on VAS as the company plans to enter into multiple tie-ups with content providers to offer services like stock prices forex rates, entertainment, TV schedules, sports, movies, serials, travel, downloads, astrology and cricket amongst others. It has asked for proposals from leading Indian as well as foreign players to be submitted by March 17.
According to Chairman and MD Kuldeep Goyal, the company raked in Rs.450 crore from VAS last year and aim to achieve a figure of Rs.2000 crore this year.
The company will enter into revenue sharing deal with such VAS players and the partnerships will be for a period of two year to start with.
“The content provider shall be responsible for arranging the hosting infrastructure for the requisite content/applications at its own costs,” said BSNL communication to interested VAS players. |
