2G scam: Balwa withdraws plea for release of his cellphones
TT Correspondent |  |  30 Mar 2011

Swan Telecom Promoter Shahid Usman Balwa , arrested for his alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam involving former Telecom Minister A Raja,  withdrew from a Delhi court his plea seeking release of his two mobile phones.

Special CBI Judge O P Saini allowed Balwa to withdraw his application.

"It is submitted by advocate Sanjay Abbot (appearing for Balwa) that the application may be dismissed as withdrawn. Prayer allowed. Application is dismissed as withdrawn," the court said.

Balwa had moved the court seeking release of his two phones which was seized by CBI during his arrest.

CBI had opposed the release of his mobile phones saying it was a key evidence and their data had to be examined as part of the ongoing probe in 2G spectrum case.
