Orascom telecom Holdings SAE, controlled by the Egyptian telecom tycoon Naguib Sawiris, announces a 180 percent rise in its full-year net income, on a 44 percent growth in total number of subscribers.

The company reported a net income of US$2.02 billion for the year to Dec 31 2007, on a 22 pct rise in revenues to US$4.72 billion.

Orascom’s full-year pretax profit rose by 171 percent to about US$2.54 billion. The company’s total number of subscribers exceeded 70 million.
