TT Correspondent |  |  20 May 2011

Tech-Com, an Rs 157-crore IT peripherals and consumer electronics company, will launch touch phone and 3G-enabled phone models in 2011-12. The company, which entered the mobile phone segment in December 2010, has launched nine models with a price range of Rs 1,500-4,000.

“3G services have just begun in the country and we will see a momentum in later part of this year. We will have models ready by then. Besides, we will launch a model that can take three SIMs,” Mr Ajay Kumar Kedia, Managing Director of Tech-Com, said.

Quoting surveys, he said the mobile handset market in the country stood at 1.3 crore handsets a month and expected to grow to 1.8 crore by 2012. Home-grown brands now had a market share of 14 per cent. “We are expecting a market share of 3-4 per cent by 2012,” he said.

On Wednesday, Mr Kedia added two double-SIM phone models, T35 and T65, taking the total to nine.
