2G scam may impact Etisalat's outsourcing deal with Tech Mahindra
TT Correspondent |  |  27 May 2011

The 2G spectrum scam may have an impact on Tech Mahindra''s $400 million (Rs 1,800 crore) IT outsourcing deal with telecom operator Etisalat DB this year, a top company official said.

“With regards to the 3G scam, the only impact could be on the Etisalat deal. However, as things stand, we have been working for Etisalat and have been receiving payments for services rendered,” said Mr Vineet Nayyar, Vice-Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Unitech Wireless, a joint venture between Telenor and real estate player Unitech, and Etisalat DB, a DB Group-Etisalat JV, are at the heart of the scam which saw the local entities benefit from out-of-turn allocations of 2G licences, bundled with free spectrum, in 2008.
