RCom to launch under-sea cable

RCom is planning to launch an under-sea cable system HAWK with connecting Mediterrenean region to rest of the world via Europe and Asia. The cable will be 3,181 kilometer long and have an initial capacity of 100 gigabyte per second.
 
This will be done with an estimated investment of Rs.650 crore
 
According to media reports, this cable will be part of FLAG network of Reliance Communications, connecting Cyprus to Alexandria. It will work as an alternative during any kind of damage to its cable.
 
In January 2008, the FLAG cable were cut by an accident which had badly affected internet service in parts of the world, including India.
