Huawei latest switch technology to boost work efficiency across businesses in Middle East
TT Correspondent |  |  05 Sep 2011

Huawei Enterprise, a global leader in providing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions announced that it has unveiled the latest switching hardware devices that is set to transform the way in which IT networks are designed to benefit business operations in the long run.

The latest switch series will support and simplify large and complex projects including the deployment of Local Area Networks (LAN) for campuses as well as Datacenters, using its innovative switching technology.

With increased performance thanks to a faster wire-speed network throughput and reduced power consumption by 10 percent, Huawei’s latest X7 Switch series are also designed for easy installation and maintenance. In addition, its state-of-the-art architectural design runs on a common operating system via Huawei’s patented technology Versatile Routing Platform (VRP), allowing businesses to optimize the operational cost of their IT assets.

“We are moving into a world where features including Voice over IP, video-sharing and social media networking applications are dominant tools that businesses typically need to communicate with one another,” said Dr. Liu Qi, President, Enterprise Middle East. “The increasing use of such applications has intensified the network traffic flow of every organization and requires that switching technologies are more reliable, flexible and perform better in terms of connectivity.

“With proven experience in delivering state-of-the-art ICT solutions for 45 out of world’s top 50 telecom operators, we will continue to demonstrate our levels of expertise in the enterprise market through our products, and solutions portfolio.”, he added.

The X7 series also features Huawei’s Intelligent Stacking (iStack) technology, innovative Huawei switch platform virtualization that allows for a much simpler process when designing and operating data centres as well as campus Ethernet networks. Complied with the IEEE 802.3az standards that monitors the energy efficiency of Ethernet technology, Huawei’s suite of switches is also built to boost work efficiency, saving up a sizable amount of electricity costs in kilowatts per year.

The latest switches can connect to a number of devices that will enable a number of typical applications on a business network. From internet sharing with people simultaneously, accessing music or audio files of large sizes, to videoconferencing that directly connects to the network to see and speak to people who are in different places using a TV or LCD screen, Huawei’s Switch series will facilitate the applications to ensure a more reliable connectivity and that voice, video and other data are delivered efficiently and effectively.

To date, Huawei has delivered more than four million sets of switches that are widely used in the telecommunications, government, finance, transportation, power supply, education, and oil industries. Huawei’s switches and routers currently provide services for two billion users around the world.
