ZTE inks pact with PGCIL for enterprise solutions
TT Correspondent |  |  14 Sep 2011

Chinese telecom equipment-maker ZTE Corporation on Tuesday made its maiden foray into the enterprise solutions space in India after bagging a contract from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd to help the state-run firm reduce costs.

As part of the agreement, ZTE will deploy equipment and devices that will enhance PGCIL''s network coverage and service quality.

However, the company did not disclose the financial details of the deal.

"The contract will increase ZTE's share of PGCIL's transmission market to 15 per cent, a significant achievement for the company in India's non-telecom operator market. As part of the agreement, ZTE will deploy more than 385 DWDMs, 1025 SDHs, and several PTN devices," the company said.

The India enterprise solutions market is estimated to be worth $3 billion and its size is projected to grow to $8 billion by 2014, the release said.

"ZTE has been a leader in providing telecom technology, addressing the complex requirement of organisations across sectors for over a decade," ZTE India CEO Cui Liangjun said.

"Given our successes in global markets such as China, Africa and the United States, we're pleased to make this foray into the Indian enterprise solutions market and are confident of success there," he said.

ZTE is focused on offering end-to-end solutions and products to its enterprise customers, including telepresence, data center, smart grid and intelligent transport solutions.

The company offers a wide range of products, such as optical transport solutions, routers and LAN switches.
