2G scam: CBI to file FIR against Maran by Sept 30

The CBI has decided to go ahead with filing of an FIR against the former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran. The agency probing the 2G spectrum allocation case told the Supreme Court that an FIR would be filed by the end of this month. 

The CBI also informed the apex court that the preliminary inquiry in respect of Maran in the 2G scam has been completed. 

The probe agency''s senior counsel KK Venugopal told the apex court bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice AK Ganguly that the conclusions drawn on the basis of the initial inquiry were being looked into by CBI officials and the decision on the filing of an FIR against Maran will be taken by Sept 30.
 

The CBI also informed the court that its preliminary inquiry into the acts of telecom companies Essar and Loop in the 2G scam had been completed but a decision on future action would be taken in two-three weeks.
