Telcom operators plan to offer customised data plans: Amdocs
TT Correspondent |  |  11 Oct 2011

With the consumption of content growing at phenomenal pace, telecom operators across the world are planning to offer data plans customised to consumer devices and consumption, a study said today.

According to a survey by Amdocs (telecom solutions firm) and analyst firm Heavy Reading, over 80 per cent respondents said they are looking at offering data plans shared between several devices.

About 65 per cent said they were looking at plans offering a certain data package to members of a family.

"The recent rise in new data plans is being driven by the need to offer customers improved data experience and to better monetise investments in network capacity," Amdocs Revenue Management Group Director Product Marketing Guy Hilton told reporters here.

New data price plans would flood the market as data usage skyrockets with the introduction of improved tablets and smartphones, he added.
