2G: Court to hear Swamy’s plea on November 8
TT Correspondent |  |  25 Oct 2011

The 2G special court on Monday postponed the hearing of petitioner and Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy's argument on why P Chidambaram should be named as co-accused in the scam to November 8.

Swamy said that the hearing has been postponed as the court officials are away during the festival season. He also said that the Supreme Court's order on the charges against Chidambaram are also expected to be finalised by the date given by the special court.

The Janata Party President has accused Chidambaram of masterminding the 2G spectrum allocation as the then finance minister in UPA 1, when the allocation took place.

The Opposition, too, tore into Chidambaram's role in the entire scam.

BJP leader LK Advani said in a statement, "Despite elaborate attempts at a cover-up, the role of former Finance Minister and incumbent Home Minister P Chidambaram, clearly merits serious investigation."

He added, "Why did Chidambaram concur with A Raja's decision to allot spectrum in 2008 at 2001 prices, days after giving an opinion to the contrary?"
