BSNL raises tariff for prepaid customers in Punjab

State-owned cellular operator BSNL on Wednesday raised rates of call and SMS services by up to 20 per cent in the Punjab circle.

In the ''Per Second plan', charges for call made to other networks have been raised from 1 paise per second to 1.2 paise per second. However, tariff for calls made to BSNL numbers will remain 1 paise per second, a BSNL official said.

BSNL has subscribers base of 46.86 lakh (inclusive of post paid connections) in Punjab as on July, 2011.

In the 'Per Minute' plan, call charges for making calls to other operators have been raised from 49 paise per minute to 59 paise per minute charges for calls to BSNL network will continue to remain 49 paise per minute.

Charges for national SMS have also been hiked to 70 paise per SMS against 60 paise per SMS earlier, he said.

Concessional rate of calling two BSNL local numbers and one BSNL.

STD number has also been increased from 20 paise to 30 paise per minute, he said.

The revision in charges will not be applicable to customers who have not completed six months in the old plan, he said.
