Reliance Communications has appointed Shamik Das as the Joint President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company'''s wireless business.

Shamik will also be a member of the Wireless Management Board, Reliance Communications said in a statement.

In his new role as COO, Shamik will report to Syed Safawi, President Wireless Business.

"Das' expertise in strategic planning and execution, operational management, collaboration and partnership, supply chain will enable RCom to maximise its competitive advantage in the Indian telecom markets," said the company in a media statement. 

Prior to this, Shamik Das, was CEO of S Tel Private Ltd. He has also worked in senior level positions in Bharti Airtel, where he was the CEO of Airtel South Regions, Group CFO and Chief Supply Chain for Airtel’s mobile and Infotel Business.
