CBI raids Vodafone, Airtel offices in extra spectrum case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been carrying out searches at Vodafone offices in Mumbai and Delhi, and Airtel office in Gurgaon and residences of former Department of Telecom (DoT) Secretary and ex-BSNL director Shyamal Ghosh.

A first information report (FIR) had been filed yesterday on November 18 and the raids have been in connection with the excess spectrum case. The telecom service providers have confirmed of the searches at their offices. Vodafone has said that it have been cooperating with the CBI officials and that it is not a raid but the CBI is merely seeking documents from the company.

Bharti Airtel has claimed that the allocation has been done as per the policy that existed then. "We are providing all details and correspondence to officers and all the company documents are complying with the laws and regulations," Bharti Airtel said.

The CBI has invoked Section 120-B, 13 (1) (d).

This had to happen. Airtel is responsible for the exisitng 2G scam in which Raja and others are behind bars. Now, it is your turn Mr Mittal.
