Digvijaya supports campaign against muck on social media sites
TT Correspondent |  |  07 Dec 2011

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh who, of late,  held out against the anti-corruption tirade from social activists has once again stood for his party. This time too he lost time no time to support telecom minister Kapil Sibal's move against objectionable and offensive content which often appear on social media sites.

Sibal on Tuesday said that there should a code of conduct for the service providers so that such content could be effectively checked.

Favoring Sibal’s move. Singh said that he is not in favor of ban on such sites, nor does he support any censorship but there should be an effective way to curb this menace.  The service providers should not provide any space for such activities, he added.

Digvijaya Singh who himself has been a victim of such campaigns has filed complaint against 22 people and sought police action against them for posting offensive remarks against him and his family.
