No breakthrough in talks between BSNL, JVC
TT Correspondent |  |  14 Dec 2011

The issues of  BSNL’s  proposed Voluntary Retirement Scheme and withdrawal of benefits like medical allowance still remains unresolved with the telecom provider and the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Associations/Unions of BSNL Executives and Non-Executives failing to reach any agreement.

JAC in a statement said that they will go on strike December 15, 2011.

The statement said that talks were held between the Director (HR) and the Joint Action Committee. Management was not able to solve any of the issues for which notice has been given. Hence, there is no change in the decision to go on strike.

JAC said that the employees are working overtime without seeking any remuneration and despite that BSNL is going ahead with its plan to lay off about 40 per cent of the existing 2.76 lakh workers without giving denying bonuses. It also withdrew existing benefits for workers.
