Airtel, Idea stocks rise on TDSAT’s relief on 3G pacts

Buoyed by the TDSAT’s order staying the government’s decision to scarp 3G roaming pacts between the private service providers, the stocks of Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular rose between1.5 percent to 3.5 percent on Monday. Overall Sensex rose 0.5 percent

 

The leading telcos Airtel, Vodafone and Idea had moved the tribunal on Friday against the DoT’s move. Government had called the 3G roaming pacts as illegal.

 

The government’s decision has come in for strong criticism from these telcos terming the move as arbitrary and unreasonable.
