New Mobile Phones shoot up HTC’s net profit by 24 %
TT Bureau |  |  08 Apr 2008

High Tech Computer Corporation popularly known as HTC posted a 24 per cent growth in first-quarter profit as the company attributed the growth to its new range of mobile phones.

The Company’s net income climbed to NT (New Taiwan) $6.87 billion (around USD $230 million) from NT $5.54 billion a year earlier. According to High Tech Corp.’s spokeswoman Maggie Cheng, high demand for new mobile phones, particularly touch-screen models that have similar functionalities to that of Apple’s iPhone, shot up the net earnings.

Besides new mobile phones, the company also acknowledged reduced operating expenses for the rise in the profit.  High Tech is slated to disclose details on its earnings in a conference call on April 25.
