It seems the low-cost tablet war in India has begun. Zync Global Private Limited, an indigenous tablet maker on Monday launched a new model- Zync Z-990 plus at a Rs. 6,490.

The company said its strategy has been to provide unique product offerings coupled with distinctive value additions to customers and our tie-up with BigFlix and Ibibo extends its presence for tapping the youth fever in India.

These low cost devices, which contributed 15% to the overall tablet shipment of 249,000 last year in India, are now poised to grow to 30% by end of 2012, according to IDC India. There have been at least 10 major budget tablets introduced by different vendors since November last year. And industry observes expect, as many more budget tablets entrants are set to make their debut, a drastic scale down of prices from the major tablet vendors.

The company launched a tablet, the Z-990 model in March this year which is India’s first tablet running on Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The new Z-990 plus comes with additional features and better upgrades such as a 1.5Ghzprocessor and a high resolution screen, with a glossy outer casing. It also has an ultra-portable design featuring realtime multitasking and symmetrical multiprocessing capabilities.

The tablet will be available at various retail outlets through Balaji Solutions across 22 states in India. It will be available for purchase on various e-commerce websites such as Snapdeal.com, HomeShop18.com, seventymm.com, indiatimes.com, futurebazaar.com, naaptol.com. The add-on practical accessories such as screen guard, and a lycra sleeve apart from the standard USB cable, earphone and a charger – all included at a bargain price of Rs. 6,490.

To further cater to the youth segment and give an all round experience to its users, Zync has tied up with Big Flix- India’s first online movie on demand service for one month free subscription. BIGFlix has specially created an Android application for the latest Zync Z-990 plus tablet which is embedded in the tablet. Subscribers can now get a chance to enjoy their favorite movies and choose from a wide collection of over 1000 movies, spanning across categories from action, comedy, romance, drama etc.

Besides this, “Zync has also partnered with Ibibo, India’s largest gaming company, to provide its consumers with an exciting gaming experience across 40 categories.  Zync users can play various Android based social and multiplayer games for free with their friends, fans & celebrities on Ibibo Games app which is pre-loaded on to the tablet.
