Sistema seeks government’s support for its curative petition
TT Correspondent |  |  31 Jul 2012

Russian’s Sistema whose 21 licences have been cancelled following Supreme Court’s February 2 verdict has sought government’s support for its curative petition pending before the Supreme Court for reinstating its licences, reports PTI.

Sistema has 56.68 per cent stake in CDMA telecom services provider Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL).

A DoT official told the media persons that Sistema officials who met the team formed by inter- ministerial group to deal with the legal notices served by global investors have sought the government’s support its curative petition.

“We are yet to decide on it", he said

Sistema Shyam Teleservices, has filed a curative petition at the Supreme Court, seeking a review of the 2G licence cancellation. It argues that Sistema was the lone CDMA bidder.

While dismissing the review petitions of SSTL and six other telecom companies, the apex court had said its Februray 2 decision did not suffer from any error apparent warranting its reconsideration.
