Verizon Wireless to roll out 4G LTE network in Brattleboro and WRJ
TT Correspondent |  |  17 Aug 2012

Verizon Wireless has said that it will launch the nation’s largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Brattleboro and White River Junction, and 14 additional communities throughout Vermont.

Verizon Wireless customers with compatible 4G LTE smartphones, modems, tablets and mobile hotspots will be able to wirelessly surf the Web, stream music and video, and download files up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G.

In the past three months, Verizon Wireless has introduced 4G LTE service in more than 50 communities throughout the state, including Bennington, Rutland, Montpelier, Burlington and Northern Vermont.

When Verizon Wireless expands its 4G LTE network, it will be newly available in the following communities across Vermont, Brattleboro Dover, Guilford, Hartford, Hartland, Londonderry, Ludlow, Norwich, Quechee, Sharon, Stratton, Vernon, Weathersfield, White River, Junction, Windsor, Woodstock.

“Our 4G LTE network will enable customers in and around Brattleboro and White River Junction to use their 4G LTE devices to stay in touch like never before, uploading, downloading and connecting online, all with speeds up to 10 times faster than before,” said Christine Berberich, New England President for Verizon Wireless. “We continue expanding and enhancing our 4G LTE network across the Green Mountain State to provide our customers with the best wireless experience possible.”

Already available in portions of all six New England states, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network will be available to more than 75 percent of the U.S. population in 371 markets nationwide as of August 16. The network continues to rank as the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.
