Telenor announces new EVP People Development and new CEO Telenor Denmark
TT Correspondent |  |  20 Aug 2012

Jon Erik Haug will take on the role of Executive Vice President for People Development in Telenor Group. Marek Slacik, CMO in Telenor Serbia, will fill the vacancy left by Jon Erik, becoming Telenor Denmark’s new CEO.

Having served as CEO of Telenor Denmark since 2010, Jon Erik Haug will be returning to Norway to take on a new challenge as the Head of People Development, as of November 1, 2012. The current head of People Development, Oddvar Hesjedal, has announced his plans to retire on this date.

“Oddvar has been integral part of the Telenor Group, and he will be missed. He has vast experience from his leadership positions at Kyivstar and his years spent as CEO in Grameenphone. While we are sad to see him leave, we are happy that Oddvar has agreed to be available to Telenor for other engagements during his retirement,” said Jon Fredrik Baksaas, President and CEO, Telenor Group.

“We are pleased that Jon Erik has accepted the position as Head of People Development in Telenor Group, and his experience from working in the business units will serve him well in his new role,” he added.

Jon Erik first joined Telenor in 1997 and has held a number of positions in both Norway and Sweden. Prior to his tenure as Denmark’s CEO, Jon Erik served as Chief Marketing Officer in Telenor Sweden, as well as Head of the Climate Change program in Telenor Group and Director of the mobile consumer market for Telenor Norway.

With Jon Erik now positioned back in Norway, Marek Slacik will move into Telenor’s Danish operation as CEO, effective September 1 this year. Marek has worked as Telenor Serbia’s Chief Marketing Officer since July 2009. He has 10 years of telecommunications leadership experience, working for start-ups, market challengers, as well as established operators, including Vodafone, Telefónica O2 and Telenor.

“Marek knows the telecommunications industry very well and has been a key part of making Telenor Serbia a major success story over the last few years. He believes in the power of new and relevant services in the market, and has played an important role in Telenor Serbia’s efforts to help customers explore and use digital content in their everyday lives. We look forward to Marek sharing his knowledge and experience with Telenor Denmark,” said Kjell Morten Johnsen, EVP and Head of European operations, Telenor Group.
