UAE-based operator Etisalat said on Wednesday that it will not participate in forthcoming auction for 2g spectrum. The process of auction will start in November.
“Following the publication by India’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the information memorandum for the planned auction of spectrum in 1800 MHz and 800 MHz bands, the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) wishes to confirm that it has decided not to participate in the auction,” Etisalat in a statement.
Etisalat, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi-based Etisalat and India’s DB Realty Group, has lost 15 2G spectrum licences following February 2 Supreme Court verdict canceling 122 licences allotted during the former telecom minister A Raja. These licences were believed to be rigged. |
