Samsung vs Apple: US court asked to reconsider ban on Galaxy 10.1
TT Correspondent |  |  01 Oct 2012

The mobile phone maker Samsung got a major relief from a US appeals court. On Friday, a US Appeals court ordered that the lower court should reconsider a sales ban against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 won by Apple in a patent dispute last month.

In a battle that the whole world watched, Apple won a legal battle against Samsung on many of its patent violation claims. The US jury found that Samsung had copied critical features of the iPhone and iPad and awarded Apple $1.05 billion in damages.

However, in the same case, the jury found that Samsung had not violated the patent that was the basis for the tablet injunction. The South Korean company had pleaded that the sales ban should be lifted. US District Judge Lucy Koh said she could not act because Samsung had already appealed.

Samsung is about to launch its second generation of one of Galaxy Tab.
