Sick ITI seeks Rs 6000 cr - Report

Cash- strapped telecom equipment maker ITI Ltd has sent a proposal to the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) seeking financial assistance to the tune of Rs 6000 crore to manufacture and supply technology equipment for defence services and also to pay salaries to the staff, reports PTI.

The report said that ITI which was a telecom equipment provider to the state owned telcos MTNL and BSNL want to go diversify as the orders from these telcos has gown down significantly.

The government in a bid to streamline the company but all its efforts have failed despite investing a whopping Rs. 4,000 crore ino the company.
