Apple in UK is having tough time with court not just stopping at ordering to re-write a notice on its website saying the Samsung did not copy its iPad's design, but going further by slapping legal fees.
“As to the costs (lawyers’ fees) to be awarded against Apple, we concluded that they should be on an indemnity basis. Such a basis (which is higher than the normal, “standard” basis) can be awarded as a mark of the court’s disapproval of a party’s conduct, particularly in relation to its respect for an order of the court. Apple’s conduct warranted such an order”, court said in its ruling.
TelecomTiger had earlier reported that Apple removed a piece of JavaScript code from its UK website which was seen as a technological trickery to prevent the users from seeing its apology to Samsung as ordered by the Court.
A British court had ordered Apple to publish a notice on its website and in British newspapers admitting that Samsung did not 'copy' iPad. The court also directed Apple that it should remain on Apple's website for at least six months. |
