Shyam Networks secures Taj Mahal for CISF with its IP video surveillance solution
TT Correspondent |  |  15 Jan 2013

Shyam Networks, a Division of Vihaan Netwroks Ltd, has successfully deployed its IP Video Surveillance solution with Hawk ( Pan Tilt Zoom) and Falcon (FixedBox) cameras along with Di-Cortex Video Management Software within the Taj Mahal complex at Agra, UP, India, one of the Seven Wonders of the world as well as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Shyam Networks has installed this surveillance solution in association with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) which is responsible for the security of the historical monument. The installation was a challenge where drilling or use of screws was prohibited on any structure.

The entire exercise was carried out using permitted techniques under the Archaeological Survey of India guidelines while at the same time ensuring that all the requirements of the surveillance system were met. Outdoor housings and enclosures were used to keep the cameras and other networking equipment free from environmental factors without affecting the quality of the system deliverables.

“Coupled with a sense of achievement and a feeling of great responsibility, the proud Shyam team has commissioned its set of IP cameras within the Taj Mahal complex to secure all its entrances as well as key areas of public movement. The surveillance solution not only delivers high resolution images to the CISF monitoring team but also enables storage of all data for retrieval at a later stage for any forensic or statistical requirement” announced Mr Rajeev Sharad, Vice President, Security & Automation Business Unit, Vihaan Networks Ltd.

“We are privileged & proud to be part of this project and feel a sense of great satisfaction at having provided a security solution to such an important global monument”, he added.

This deployment by Shyam Networks enables the CISF teams as well as Archaeological Survey of India to seamlessly integrate and access the video footage of the mausoleum and the surrounding areas spanning the entire complex.

“It has always been our endeavour to provide locally manufactured Indian products and solutions that can help in creating long lasting impact on a global scale. This is a very special project for us as it required a lot of care to be taken at the ground level, while deploying our surveillance solution. We are extremely happy to be part of providing security cover to the Taj Mahal, which is a globally recognized monument and the epitome of a bygone golden era in architecture,” said Nafis Kazim, Chief Operating Officer, Shyam Networks.
