DoT announces third round of 2G spectrum auction
TT Correspondent |  |  22 Feb 2013

The government has announced that it will put to auction 2G GSM spectrum freed after the Supreme court cancelled 122 2G  licences on February  2, 2012.

Announcing this the Department of Telecom (DoT) on Thursday said that it has decided that a separate auction will be held for the balance of spectrum in 1800 MHz band in compliance with the direction of the Supreme Court in its order dated 15-2-2013.

The Supreme Court last week had ordered the government to put to auction the entire spectrum freed following its February 2o12 verdict.

DoT said that details are being worked out and a separate NIA (notice inviting application) in this regard will be issued shortly.
