Canadian govt questions DoT role over blackberry issue
TT Correspondent |  New Delhi |  28 Apr 2008

The Canadian government through a letter with its High Commissioner has questioned DoT’s role in the ongoing controversy regarding Blackberry services in India. The Canadian government has now sought to know the right authority empowered to resolve Blackberry issue in India.

"We and RIM need to understand who in the government of India is empowered to resolve this issue. This is necessary in order to ensure the right representative from RIM at the table. The discussion managed by DoT to date has inspired little confidence that those involved on the Indian side are actually empowered to settle the matter as Indian government''s demands of RIM keep expanding while media leaks proliferate,” said the letter.

The letter reportedly dated April 17 further states that the ongoing controversy has infact brought out in the open the technical issues which until now were unknown to most.
