With an aim to give a fillip to profile and content of the news in national and regional bulletins, the Android based mobile application has been developed and launched for AIR news network.

With the news on the radio losing ground to the TV channels, the special news based programmes through the Android applications move would attract the tech savvy youth and cater to the information and communication needs of the listeners. 

Speaking on the launch of the application, Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Shri Manish Tewari said that this would cater to news and information needs of audiences both domestic and external.

Apart from this, to give new focus to social media new media Platforms of All India Radio with regard to Live Streaming of AIR Urdu Service, FM Gold, AIR Youtube Channel have also been launched.

Tewari said this initiative would enable it to reach out to the audience that was accessing Social Media Platforms on 24 X 7 basis.

“It would also enable AIR to keep pace with contemporary trends in the Social Media space. With the use of Social Media, people could now access the content of AIR in any part of the globe”, he said.

Terming this as landmark initiative step in the history of AIR broadcasting, live webcasting would give the public broadcaster a new profile as far as news dissemination in real time was concerned.  This initiative would also enable the listeners of AIR to access the archives at one click of a button.
