Vodafone India’s director for external affairs Manu Kapoor resigns

Vodafone India Ltd.’s director for external affairs, Manu Kapoor, has resigned from the company citing family commitments as reason. He will be replaced by Rohit Adya, who is currently operations director. Kapoor will leave at the end of June

“Manu joined Vodafone India in March 2012 to set up the External Affairs portfolio and has played an important role in helping the business connect better with the external environment and to smoothen out the communications agenda for the organisation,” Vodafone said in statement.

His resignation has come at a time when Vodafone is locked in a battle with the government of Indian over $2 billion tax demand.

Kapoor who joined Vodafone India in March 2012 when government was in the process of changing the tax laws had worked with Reliance Industries in the past.
