Nokia Siemens Networks appoints Maria Varsellona as general counsel

 Nokia Siemens has appointed Maria Varsellona as general counsel. The appointment is effective July 1, 2013. Varsellona will report to CEO, Rajeev Suri, and join the company’s executive board. She will be based in Munich, Germany.
 
Varsellona joins Nokia Siemens Networks from Tetra Pak, an 11 billion euro revenue company, where she was General Counsel overseeing global legal operations. In this role, she was responsible for general legal support to the business, including setting and executing the intellectual property strategy, corporate governance and risk management.
 
Before that, Varsellona was Senior Counsel, Commercial Operations at General Electric (GE) Oil & Gas and previously held a number of other senior positions at GE. She has also served as Senior Counsel, Europe, at Hertz, the world’s largest car rental company. Varsellona has experience working for law firms in the UK and Italy.
