Idea launches 3G, dual-SIM smartphones ID 920, Aurus III at Rs 4,950 and Rs 6990

Buoyed by the success of its recently launched 3G Smartphones, Idea Cellular on Tuesday launched two more 3G smartphones- Idea ID 920 and Idea Aurus III- for different market segments.
 
Both the phones are dual-SIM and Android based powered by1GHz processor andpriced at 4,950 and Rs 6990 respectively.
 
Idea said that ID 920 is a an entry level phone and is aimed at targeting semi-urban markets while  Aurus III has rich features with higher-end Android 4.1 OS. It comes with 4” TFT screen, 5MP primary camera, video calling facility.
 
Idea said that the strategy of the company is to provide 3G smartphones which are priced relatively high at affordable prices. So far the company has sold more than 3 lakh 3G smartphones since it entered the devices market. The company is betting on 3G smartphones. It recently launched 3G Idea Whiz. Before that it launched Aurus 2 in the same category at Rs.6,490. Before this Idea had launched five 3G smartphones-Idea Zeal, Idea Ivory, Idea Aurus, ID 918 and Idea Blade- all in sub-Rs 8,000 category. The company claimed good response from these launches.
 
Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular said, “Keeping in mind the requirements of the fast evolving Indian consumer in the light of the ongoing mobile broadband revolution, the new 3G smartphones from Idea are priced affordably to upgrade existing 2G users to 3G.
 
Idea ID 920 is a dual-SIM, Android 2.3 OS based device with 1GHz processor, 3.5” TFT screen and supports a 2 MP camera. It supports features such as video-streaming, push mail, and social media access such as Twitter and Facebook. The smartphone packs in with a 1400 mAh battery and a 2GB memory card with expandable memory up to 32 GB. Idea said that ID 920 will cater to the same target segment which was earlier being addressed by Idea ID 918 based on the same Android technology.
 
Idea Aurus III runs on Android Jellybean v 4.1 OS and is powered with 1Ghz processor. It has  a 4 inch capacitive touch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution & 16M colours. It comes with internal memory of a 4GB ROM along with 512 MB RAM. It sports a 5 MP camera with fix focus and digital zoom along with a front facing camera offering video calling. Aurus III offers rich experience of popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, apart from a wide range of other interesting applications and games.
 
The company is offering an attractive data usage offer for Idea 3G users with the devices. For a pack of Rs. 261, ID 920 and Aurus III users can get 1GB and 1.6 GB of 3G data, respectively, and Idea TV subscription free for the first 3 months. The 3G pack is available along with the smartphones in all Idea 3G circles. In the rest of the country, smartphone users can opt for attractive 2G data pack offering unlimited 2G data for Rs. 261. The new 3G smartphones from Idea are available at all major mobile retail stores and Idea outlets across the country.
