Reliance Telecom allegedly made an investment of 9.9 per cent in equity shares of Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd (STPL), allegedly a front company for his own which was given telecom spectrum and licence in 2008.

Anil Ambani told special CBI court that he was not aware of any company called Swan Telecom.

He said that he attends a large number of meetings and therefore can’t recall every meeting. When confronted by special CBI Judge O P Saini further about the records he said that minutes are not prepared by him. They are prepared by the secretarial staff.

“I do not recall and I do not prepare the minutes”, he said.

On Wednesday the CBI Special Judge O.P. Saini rejected Reliance Telecommunications Limited’s plea against the summoning of Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani as prosecution witnesses.

The court said that examination of Anil Ambani as a witness would not cause any prejudice to the accused facing trial in the case".

There was no relief for him from the Supreme Court either. The apex court too refrained from passing any order saying Ambani's petition would be considered only after it decided on two other petitions related to 2G cases.

Last month a Delhi Court had permitted the CBI to summon Anil Ambani and his wife Tina along with 11 others as prosecution witnesses in the 2G case.
