TT Bureau |  |  06 May 2008

HDFC has come up with a mobile commerce network known as NGPAY, through which the bank customers can transfer funds, shop and make payments over their mobile phones.

HDFC claims this service to be the first in India to offer full suite of services on one single platform. It also said that fund transfer between 2 HDFC Bank accounts will happen in real-time while in case of non-HDFC Bank account, it will happen within 48 hours.

HDFC bank customers who are registered for fund transfer facility under the bank’s NetBanking services can download the NGPAY application on their mobile handsets to start using this service.

Mr Sourabh Jain, CEO, NGPAY said that starting next month, through NGPAY, HDFC Bank customers will also be able to buy and sell units of different HDFC Mutual Fund schemes.

This service is free of cost and requires GPRS handsets.
