Nokia eyes phablet market in India, launches its first Lumia 1520 phablet with 20 MP camera at 46,999

With an eye on the emerging markets like India and betting big on the large screen smartphones (phablets), Nokia on Monday launched its much awaited first phablet Lumia 1520 phablet. The Lumia 1520 is priced at 46,999.
 
The Asia/Pacific markets (excluding Japan) have shown its preference for pahblets in the second quarter of 2013 with India and China contributing a great deal to their popularity after mature such as South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore witnessed the tremendous growth, according to the research firm IDC.
 
It said that Samsung was the first to succeed in phablets with the Galaxy Note launched in APEJ in 2011 Q4, capturing 90% of the phablet market. Fast forward to 2013 Q2, and Samsung's Note series counts for less than 50%.

The Windows phone Nokia Lumia 1520 which was launched in October globally features a 6-inch 1080p full HD display and is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset and 2GB RAM.

It boasts of 20-megapixel PureView camera. Other features include NFC, Wireless charging and a large 3,400mAh battery.
 
It comes with 32GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB using a microSD card slot along with 7GB of free Skydrive space. It will be available in yellow, white, black and glossy red color variants.
 
The Company was also expected to launch Lumia 1320 which features 6-inch 720p display and is powered 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset. It sports 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, and 3,400mAh battery.
 
The Lumia 1320 comes with 8GB of internal storage expandable up to 64GB through a microSD card along with 7GB of free cloud storage. It will be available in orange, yellow, white and black color variants.
 
It has global price tag or Rs $339 and should be priced at Rs 20,000 in India.
 
Nokia also launched Asha 502 which is a Dual SIM phone that allows you to Swipe, Snap and Share all you want in a few seconds. The new 502 comes in a new crystal clear design with a smarter camera, better speed and more user friendly features. It has a 3 inch Capacitive Multi-Touch Screen that gives you a display resolution of 320x240 pixels.
 
It runs on the Nokia Asha Software Platform 1.1 that gives you better speed and enhanced performance. You can capture best moments with the 5MP rear camera that comes with Fixed Focus and 4x Digital Zoom. It comes with various connectivity features like Wi-Fi, WAPI, Bluetooth, USB. This phone runs on 1010mAh battery that gives you longer talk time and standby time.
