Good response for spectrum auction: Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Jio, RCOM and Idea submit forms
TT Correspondent |  |  15 Jan 2014

The proposed auction of spectrum for 900 MHz and 1800 Mhz bands has received good initial response, if the operators submitting forms is an indication. Almost all existing telecom service providers have applied for participating in the bidding that will begin on February 3.

Sources said that Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Reliance Jio, Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Telenor are among the companies that have submitted forms for participating in the auction.

However, real picture will be clear on January 27 when the companies can withdraw their forms.

Videocon is probably the only company that has not submitted form. “We were keen to bid for 900 Mhz spectrum for Delhi and for acquiring additional 2Mhz spectrum each in Punjab and MP circles on the 1800 Mhz band, however after a lot of contemplation, we have decided not to participate in the current spectrum auctions,” said Arvind Bali, CEO of Videocon Telecom.
